Success Stories

My name is Meisha B. Taylor and I am a proud 2007-08 graduate of the Old Stone Center for Education (CMSD). My experience at Old Stone Education Center has been tremendous. The staff is great and so are all the opportunities that they offer. Others schools that I’ve attended in the past lack in providing support. The staff at Old Stone is like a family that I have never had.

Since I’ve graduated from Old Stone, so many opportunities have opened up for me. I am currently pursuing an internship at the Center for Dialysis Care located on Euclid. I really enjoy it. It is a great experience. I will soon begin training to be a Certified Dialysis Technician. Also, I will be a first time college student majoring in health in a few weeks at Cuyahoga Community College.
Without Old Stone, I wouldn’t have accomplished these things. I owe it to the Old Stone Education Center. Thanks Old Stone!

Hi my name is Felicia Butcher, and I have been attending the Old Stone Education Center since November 1, 2006. I’ve been having a wonderful experience.

Well, let me tell you a little about my experience in this program. When I first came here I was worried about day care and how I was going to get my education. Then I found out day care was provided. I like the daycare a lot and the teachers are very patient and nice to all the kids. So I started school and I have been coming to school ever since.

I have special needs for learning, and a few months down the road I was tested for special needs so I could get accommodations for taking the GED test. I waited a long time for my accommodations to come back. When I got my accommodations I was really happy. A month or 2 later I took my GED test and I hope I will pass. I am so glad that I attended the Old Stone Center because it gave me the ability to accomplish my goals!

Hello my name is Janisha Smith and I would like to tell you about the experience that I had at the Old Stone Education Center. I really think that this is a wonderful school. Here at Old Stone they have so many opportunities for you to take hold of and all of them are available to you. I think the staff here is great; they were always ready to help me with anything that I needed and that’s not the only thing. Their classes are small so I could get the attention that I needed. They have a tutor who helped me in any specific area of a subject that I didn’t fully understand. They have a daycare on site so you don’t have to worry about missing school or being late because you don’t have a sitter. I also had the chance to take up computer classes they have after school and earn certificates for each course I passed. It was just so great here for me.

That wasn’t all that I enjoyed here, not only in school did they help me but out of school. They helped me choose a college that was best for me to go to and helped me fill out all the paper work that was necessary so I could get into college. They had internships that I got to be a part of and it was in the line of work that I would like make a career. There is nothing that I could say that I didn’t like about this school. Even when I had trouble at home and missed days they didn’t give up on me. They called to see how I was doing and asked if there was anything they could go so I could come back to school. I would recommend this school for anyone searching for a school that would help them succeed in their goal of finishing school.

Hi my name is Tomika Loftis. I would like to share with you my experience at the Old Stone Center. First let me say that I am a single mom of three and seeking to get my GED. I was fed up with feeling that I let myself down, just because I have children. I realized by not getting my education I was putting a strain on my family and not showing my children how to take the initiative and get control of our lives. So one day I got up and went to Max Hayes for a placement test, and from there I was sent to the Old Stone Program. I started my classes and was amazed how the staff and teachers were committed to getting their students to the next level. They offered one to one tutoring with all subjects, lots of help with problem areas in classes, and the materials needed to study and be motivated. Now I’m proud to say that I just received my GED plus many other certificates I’ve gained within the program. I’m very thankful for being part of the Old Stone Center for Education and having experienced success.

Special thanks to: Mrs. Branch, Mrs. Ward, Mr. Cruz, Mr. Chambers, Ms. Curtiss and Mrs. Walker.
